“Back in the day, the Beverly Hills Hotel with its iconic palm tree wallpaper was the destination for big-time celebs,” says Tracy Metro, host of home makeover show “House Doctor.” “Today, this look is a reminder that timeless doesn’t have to mean boring.
“Big, bold prints in playful colors like these bring energy and liveliness to a space,” Metro adds.
Get the look: There’s no need to convert your entire living room into a jungle to reap the benefits of this leafy allure. In fact you can pull off the look just by adding a single statement wall with a paper like this one from One Kings Lane.
“This wallpaper makes us feel like we’re on some beach holiday in Shangri-La” Metro says. “And who couldn’t use that on any given Tuesday?”

This trend is nothing new, which is probably exactly why we like it—especially in this post from @reserve_home.
“Everybody’s home should have something older than the occupants,” Metro says. “This floor pillow could be 50 years old and have stories to tell.”
“They’re a great way to convey that a space is for relaxing and conversation and not just for looks,” adds designer Pablo Solomon of Austin TX.

If it seems like the internet won’t ever stop coming up with creative indoor gardening solutions, you might be right. In fact, this week’s post from @o.interior is just one more reason to head to your favorite plant shop, pronto.
“If you want to create a boho space, you must include a wall garden,” Metro says. “What I love about this piece is the duality of the ornate frame juxtaposed by the simplicity of the tumbling plant.”
Get the look: “Go to a charity shop and buy a groovy ornate picture frame and then go to the hardware store and buy some chicken wire or simple screen and staple it to the back of the frame,” Metro explains. “Attach some wood spacers on the back for plants to sit, and attach your plants by strapping to the back of the frame and gently threading the stems through the holes in the screen.”
If you don’t have a local vintage shop, you can choose one of these frames on Etsy to get started. Just remember to be careful when watering your new wall garden.
“This is a leaky job,” warns Metro. “You might consider taking down the piece to water the plants and letting them drain before putting it back up—otherwise, you’ll have mud on the furniture.”
On-trend storage as decor

“We all have way too much stuff that we don’t want to part with,” Metro says. “But where are you supposed to put everything if you don’t live in a mansion like Beyoncé?!”
Touché. Storage as decor is nothing new, but we love the way this chic table pictured in @hgtvcanada’s repost of @fridlaa disguises our hoarding problems as a conscious decision.
“If your furniture can be both adorable and functional, then you’ve practically won the lotto,” Metro says.
Get the look: Unsurprisingly this table is straight from the masters of design and function themselves: Ikea. The price makes it a steal, as does the fact that you can shove that mail pile out of sight for another week or so without having it stare at you every day after work.
“It’s a coffee table, a moveable footstool, a storage bin, and a cute cat hangout,” Metro says. “I always say, if you can’t fix it or get rid of it, hide it.”
