Mattapan, Roxbury, and Hyde Park are among them

Boston’s 10 most affordable market-rate homes as of September are clustered in a handful of neighborhoods, including Mattapan, Roxbury, Hyde Park, and East Boston.

That is according to a new analysis from real estate research site NeighborhoodX. The analysis excluded short sales, foreclosures, income- or age-restricted properties, and those properties that would not qualify for conventional financing.

What’s left in the notoriously expensive city? Ten condos ranging from a Mattapan two-bedroom asking $220,000 to a one-bedroom in the same neighborhood asking $304,000.

These selections, especially in neighborhoods closer to downtown, “tend to be below-grade properties with less light, or they require work, and this is offset by the lower asking prices,” per NeighborhoodX research director Constantine Valhouli.

Still, the 10 herein are further proof that deals can be had in Boston proper, and that one not condemn oneself to a supercommute from beyond the city limits. What’d you think?
