Developer Related Beal just topped off its 239-unit Bulfinch Triangle project, which includes workforce housing (e.g., housing priced below market rate, though not necessarily designated as affordable). Now comes a proposal for a 150-unit project at 270 Dorchester Avenue in South Boston. Seventy of its studios, 1-BRs, and 2-BRs would be set aside as workforce housing, according to early plans filed with the city.What does that mean, exactly, in this case? Per Megan Turchi at Boston.com: “[T]hey would be priced for households earning 61 percent to 120 percent of area median income, rather than at the market rate for the area.”The development is also due to include a 120-space parking garage (despite being down the street from the Broadway Red Line stop) and just over 6,500 square feet of commercial space.
