Some locals worry the three-building project is too big for the area—one building would be 14 floors
A developer wants to demolish a nearly block-long building along Linden Street and five houses on Pratt Street, all in Allston, and replace them with a three-building complex with 300 apartments, 53 condos, and a cafe or a store.
The plans from Partners Properties are all very preliminary—the company, which has owned 14-20 Linden Street for many years, has yet to file a formal proposal with the city—but skepticism has greeted its recent outreach to neighbors of the would-be project, which would displace the Garage nightclub.
They are concerned about its scope—one of the buildings would be 14 floors—and the effects it might have on traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian. But a rep from Partners says the company is interested in an extensive dialogue with locals, per Universal Hub.
Plus, the company wants to include large courtyards as part of the new buildings that would front Linden Street in order to open up that stretch of Allston. Stay tuned.
