South Carolina-based developer Edens wants to start building the 9.9-acre addition to its South Bay Center mall in Dorchester in 2016, according to docs filed with the Boston Redevelopment Authority this week.
The project would plunk 475 apartments, a 130-room hotel, a 12-screen cinema and 113,000 square feet of retail space as well as parking in five main buildings. Each of the buildings would be mixed-use, the Herald‘s Donna Goodison reports, except for the hotel—that would be standalone (and would join a plethora of new inns going up in Boston). The development would also surely rejuvenate that area of Dorchester, which is riddled with vacant lots. Stay tuned.
