The federal-style house at 444 Gallivan Road in Dorchester’s Ashmont section hit the sales market in early January for $489,000.

The 2,480-square-foot, eight-room house dates from 1790, with marks of those 18th-century roots clear in both the exterior and interior designs. The house also, quite frankly, arrived with quite a bit of wear and tear—a fact that the Coldwell Banker listing did not shy from: “This beauty needs some help.”

It looks like 444 Gallivan will get it: The house built the year after George Washington became president traded recently for $455,000.
