What $2,000 a month rents around #Boston right now

Including in Dorchester, Mattapan, and South Boston

The median one-bedroom apartment rent in Boston was $2,340 a month as of August 1, according to real estate listings site Zumper. The median two-bedroom rent was $2,750.

So it’s safe to assume that $2,000 a month does not go all that far in the city’s rental market. But there are solid options out there. Our latest Curbed Comparisons proves it.

We start in the South End, where Unit 2 at 1069 Washington Street runs to 1,100 square feet and includes two bedrooms and one bathroom. The $2,000 rent also covers a private porch, a W/D, and two parking spaces.

In South Boston, $2,000 rents the 600-square-foot one-bedroom, one-bathroom Unit 1 at 170 H Street. The rent covers “some outdoor space,” storage space in the basement, and a W/D.

There is no W/D in Unit 1 at 11 Cragmere Terrace in Mattapan, but the two-bedroom, one-bedroom does run to 800 square feet. There is “plenty of on-street parking,” too.

There is no W/D in Unit 1 at 2 Saxton Street in Dorchester’s Savin Hill area, but, again, there is space: 1,100 square feet in this case. The kitchen in the two-bedroom, one-bathroom was recently updated too. The similarly sized Unit 2 in the same building is also asking $2,000.

We end in Brighton, where Unit 2 at 50 Monastery Road was recently gut-renovated. It runs to 800 square feet and includes two bedrooms as well as one bathroom. There is laundry and storage in the building’s basement, and the $2,000 a month covers access to a shared patio.
